Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is a perennial legume that is commonly used in traditional medicine. Red clover contains hytoestrogens (isoflavones) similar to estrogen.Isoflavones may act similarly to estrogen in promoting uric acid excretion and can inhibit xanthine oxidase.

There have been numerous studies that show red clover is beneficial for human woman in menopause, osteoporosis, heart disease, arthritis, skin disorders, cancer, and respiratory problems like asthma.
