Dr. Bangert graduated from WSU with a degree in Veterinary Science in 1985, and from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She went on to get her Masters Degree in Veterinary Science, and then did a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Virginia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. In addition to her experience in small animal medicine, Dr. Bangert has experience dealing with diseases, injuries and nutrition of pet birds, and also has provided care to wild raptors in conjunction with Sardis Wildlife Center and Wildlife Rescue. In 2009, she received the Whatcom Humane Society's Woof & Whiskers award for Veterinary Services. She has been practicing small animal and avian medicine and surgery in Bellingham since 1989. She has a Doberman Pinscher, an orange tabby cat, four horses and a flock of birds.
