As a young boy growing up in Baltimore, MD, Dr. Michael Strickland knew animals were his passion. Moving to beautiful Loudoun County in 1984 he worked with Dr. Jack Howard, his mentor who owned the original Leesburg Veterinary Hospital for 40 years. Dr. Strickland’s dedication and integrity were modeled after Dr. Howards’, and he still continues to carry on the tradition of “Caring is what we do best” from one generation to the next. The practice was purchased by Dr. Strickland in 1985.
Dr. Strickland attended the University of Maryland where he earned a B.S. in Animal Science in 1976. He was a member of the Alpha Zeta fraternity and Dairy Cattle Judging team. Dr. Strickland started working in a veterinary hospital when he was just 18. He then attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He was the recipient of the "Advanced Proficiency in Small Animal Veterinary Medicine" award.
To this day, Dr. Strickland said he enjoys "the variety of cases and meeting people and their pets".
