The use of Blue-Kote on Chickens

Added July 15, 2024

Blu-kote is marketed for use on superficial wounds on animals. The product contains a semi-permanent dye known as gentian violet which has been linked with cancer. The product also contains high amounts of isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) which causes tissue damage to a chicken's delicate skin and slows the healing process. There are better alternatives for wound care.
