Chickens thermoregulate their body temperature through performing certain actions when they feel cold or hot. All modern-day chicken breeds are descendants of the red junglefowl, which is native to southeast Asia. The climate in this part of the world is tropical, meaning the weather tends to be hot and humid most of the time and does not get below freezing.
