Avian Coccidiosis

Added July 15, 2024

Avian Coccidiosis is a major intestinal disease of chickens caused by infection with high amounts of the protozoa Eimeria. There are nine species known to affect chickens, each damages a specific area in the chicken's gastrointestinal tract. The disease is typically seen in young chicks between 1 to 4 months of age who are living in an overcrowded, wet environment with accumulated feces.
