Frankincense

Boswellia carterii

Frankincense, also known as olibanum is a resin obtained from trees of the Boswellia genus, most commonly Boswellia carterii. The resin is broken down and used often as an essential oil, widely known for it's use in aromatherapy for it has a pleasant smell. It has been proven to offer a variety of health benefits, including helping relieve chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even potentially helping to fight cancer. A 2012 study even found that a chemical compound found in frankincense called AKBA is successful at killing cancer cells that have become resistant to chemotherapy, which may make it a potential natural cancer treatment.
