Dong Quai

Angelica sinensis

Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) is a type of herb from the Apiaceae family that is found growing in the mountains in China, Japan and Korea. The dried root of the plant has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over a thousand years.

Immune enhancement
Supplementation of 0.5% of Dong Quai Root (DBT) can improve both cellular immunity and humoral immunity in immunosuppressed broiler chicks. The antifibrotic properties of DBT are related to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis and its antiangiogenic mechanisms are associated with improving oxidative stress, regulating the expression and signaling of angiogenic factors, and especially modulating HIF-1 in fibrotic livers.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
It is used in TCM to help nourish the blood, regulate the menses, and mildly invigorate and harmonize the blood.
