Musa paradisiaca

Musa paradisiaca, commonly known as the banana plant, is a widely cultivated fruit-producing tree grown in tropical and semi-tropical areas worldwide.

Multiple healing properties: M. paradisiaca leaves are used for eye inflammation, wound healing and ulcers. M. paradisiaca root is used as a tonic for liver congestion, anaemia, scurvey prevention, and veneral disease. It has also shown to have anticoccidial activities in a dose-dependent manner and at a dosage of 1,000 mg/kg b.w. had similar efficacy with Amprolium in the treatment of coccidiosis.

Liver protection propertiesM. paradisiaca have significant effect on the liver of CCl4 and paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity animal models.
