VCA Rock Creek Animal Hospital provides veterinary services for a wide variety of animal species--including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, and birds (such as ducks, chickens, and turkeys!). The hospital's veterinarians, veterinary technicians, client specialists and other pet-friendly personnel are trained to the highest standards.
Dr. Connie Lo was born and raised in Edison, New Jersey before moving to southern California as a young child. She did her undergraduate education at University of California, San Diego prior to receiving her veterinary degree at University of California, Davis. Connie has special interests in wildlife medicine/rehabilitation, exotics, ophthalmology, and surgery. She is also passionate about providing veterinary services and education to underserved communities where regular veterinary care is difficult to obtain. As a veterinary student, with a group of colleagues, she founded a non-profit organization called International Veterinary Outreach (http://ivetoutreach.org/) dedicated to providing free veterinary services and education to rural communities in Nicaragua. Additionally, she has been volunteering at high volume spay/neuter clinics since prior to veterinary school.
Greg Robbins, DVM
After completing his clinical year at the Royal Veterinary College at Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr. Greg Robbins graduated from St. George's University, Grenada, West Indies, with a DVM. He has an interest in small animal medicine, exotic and wildlife medicine and research.
Jerry Voorhees, DVM
Dr. Voorhees first exposure to Veterinary Medicine as a young boy was with his Grandfather Voorhees, a large animal rural Veterinarian, who graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1912. He transferred to Oregon State University and finished his bachelor's degree in Zoology and was then accepted into the Veterinary Medicine program followed by graduation in 2006. He has been working in Portland ever since and has acquired a wide-ranging array of surgical and internal medicine experience, with a special interest and attention in surgery.
Marie Higel, DVM
Dr. Marie Higel is originally from Arizona, has always had a love for animals, and a passion for veterinary medicine. She takes pride in supporting the bond that clients share with their pets, and care about her patients as if they were her own family members. While working towards her degree in veterinary medicine, she was a veterinary technician for over 12 years. She earned her degree in veterinary science from the University of Arizona in 2003. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2007. Dr. Higel pursues many continuing education opportunities every year, to ensure her patients are getting the best care. Her special skills and interests are small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery (including Arthrex Tightrope cranial cruciate ligament repair), emergency medicine, and exotic animals including reptiles, birds and small mammals.
