Ashutosh booti (Withania coagulans
(WC)) is a herb that belongs to the Solanaceae
family that is native to the Middle East. WC contains several active chemical components which include steroidal lactones, alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins.
Diabetic rats fed 10mg/kg of W. coagulans
for 3 weeks demonstrated significantly attenuated hyperglycemia and reduced the levels of proinflammatory cytokines in the kidneys.
Heat stressed chicks showed benefit from receiving WC at 5 g/kg of diet for 20 days.
