Raintree Veterinary Hospital

Established in 1998 by Dr. Dana Schoelen, Raintree Veterinary Hospital is a compassionate, private practice serving pet owners in Freehold and the surrounding areas for 20 years. Their staff of professionals treat a range of pets, including birds (pet poultry), exotic animals and potbelly pigs.

Dana Schoelen, DVM BA, MS

Dr. Schoelen is the owner and director of Raintree Animal Hospital. Born in Tulsa to a family of medical practitioners, Dr. Schoelen always knew he wanted to be a Veterinarian. He worked as a vet technician for years before going to vet school, and following graduation, moved back to his hometown of Tulsa to practice for three years at the Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital. While there, he indulged in a variety of exotic medicine, including treatments for monkeys and wild cats like bobcats and cougars, which were permitted as pets there. Dr. Schoelen received an undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University and earned his DVM degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He moved to New Jersey in 1993 and worked at Bayview Veterinary Hospital in Toms River for two years and Small Animal Veterinary Associates for five years. He also worked as an emergency clinician at Jersey Shore Veterinary Emergency Service for a few years before opening Raintree Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Glicker in 1998. He enjoys spending his free time with his two children, Kylie - who competes in horse shows (and wins!), and Blaise - who plays "a lot" of hockey. They have three lovable rescue dogs - Jeter, Riley, and Georgia - AND three miniature horses - Rocket, Jelly and Sprinkles.
