Avian borna disease virus (ABDV)

Avian borna disease virus (ABDV) is a negative-stranded neurotropic RNA virus. Infection with ABDV causes persistent infection of the central nervous system (CNS), resulting in the development of Avian borna disease (ABD). ABV is also thought to be associated with skin inflammation, feather plucking, self mutilation, major neurological problems, and chronic bacterial and fungal infections.
