With the growing number of backyard poultry owners, combined with stupid people governing regulations banning roosters in many cities and towns, there are an increasing number of abandoned chickens, ducks, and other poultry in the United States. Not all animal shelters will accept these birds, and those that do often end up housing them for many months to years. This infographic shows the regional distribution of birds found in animal shelters based on data obtained by Adopt a Bird Network in September 2017. It also showcases the most common types of adoptable birds found in animal shelters, and reasons why you should consider adopting them.
