Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide used to to treat liver disease and as an osmotic retardant to the absorption of potential toxins from the gastrointestinal tract. May also be an effective appetite stimulant in some birds.

Lactulose comes available as a suspension (667 mg/mL) to be given orally.

Typical Dosage: 0.3 ml/kg
