Dexamethasone


Dexamethasone is a type of anti-inflammatory drug and glucocorticoid. It comes available as an injectable solution (2 or 4 mg/ml), given by IM or IV. May be useful to help debilitated birds or poultry in shock due to it's ability to induce a rapid glucocorticoid and anti-inflammatory response.

Typical dosage: 2-4 mg/kg, given IM or IV once or twice a day.
  • Suppresses the immune system

  • Polyuria
  • Large increase in AST and ALT activities within 36 hours of IM administration.
