The Jersey Black Giants originated in New Jersey by crossing Black Javas, Dark Brahmas and Black Langshans. In recent years, Cornish blood was introduced in some strains. As the name implies the Jersey Giants are large and a very heavy fowl. In 1922, the Black Jersey Giant was added to the Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association. The white variety was added in 1947, and the blue in 2002.
